These toe-curling snaps show a butchered pregnant snake that was killed after a case of mistaken identity.
The huge snake was killed by locals from a village in Nigeria, after they suspected it of eating a calf.
Local media reported that the animal was slaughtered after accusations it had been feasting on farmers’ livestock.
But when villagers cut its swollen stomach open, they realised it was actually pregnant and it's still unclear what actually killed the calf.
Dozens of eggs fell out of the snake’s body and were quickly snatched by locals, as they are considered a delicacy in the area.
It isn’t known what species the snake is, but many are able to produce up to 100 eggs at a time.
